End of Year

It is difficult to believe that we have just a little more than a week left of school!  There is still more to learn but we will also need to begin to collect textbooks and materials that students have used during the year.  Please remind your students to check Lost and Found, home, and their locker for any textbooks that may have gone missing.  We look forward to seeing all of our students at the House Banquet on Friday, May 27th when we learn which house has won the House Cup!

Medieval History Project

Good afternoon 7th grade families!

As we begin to get closer to the end of the school year the 7th graders will be responsible for presenting their final project next week.   Students were assigned either a castle or cathedral 3 weeks ago.  During this time we have had 2 Project Checks.  2 weeks ago, students were to bring in the answers to 5 simple questions that would help them with their presentation and last Friday they were to bring in either a printed or drawn sketch of their castle or cathedral.  Please check with your student to make sure they have completed both as this project is a Major assignment grade weighing the same as a Unit Test.

Students are expected to bring their completed 3D model on Thursday – May 19th to the classroom. This due date is later than the original because of the 6th grade STAAR test.  Students should plan on taking their project home with them on Friday, May 20th. All 7th graders will receive the grading rubric on Thursday, May 12th during class to review prior to the 19th.

If your student has questions they are welcome to visit with me during Lyceum or during Morning Break.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing your student’s completed projects on May 19th!

Field Trip

Dear 7th Grade Parents-

We are excited to announce the 7th grade field trip for this year that will take place on Tuesday, March 29th.  Students will enjoy the day visiting the State Capital in Austin and Pioneer Farms.  Buses will depart from the campus at 7am and return around 5pm.  (Exact details with return time to follow) The field trip fee will cover the cost of tickets and transportation. With that in mind, we are asking that parents pay $20 per student enrolled in 7th grade, with a family maximum of $60. Click on the link if you haven’t paid already.

5-8 Field Trip Payment

If paying the fee is a hardship for you, please contact Jennifer Cape at jennifer.cape@greatheartswesternhills.org

Parent Chaperones-

All parent chaperones will be responsible for their own transportation and covering their individual cost.

If you are interested in being a chaperone for the 7th grade field trip – please email Mrs. Glowe: Nicole.glowe@greatheartswesternhills.org

Each 7th grade section will have 2 parent chaperones.  The chaperones will be selected by a first come basis.

Please note: If you plan to be a parent volunteer/chaperone at any school event, please complete the volunteer training, a background check, FERPA form, and the PSO Volunteer and Parent Confidentiality Expectations and Agreement form if you haven’t done so already and send them to school with your child or turn them into the front desk.  Click on the online volunteer training link.

We are excited for this great opportunity for our 7th graders!  Please look for more details as we get closer to our field trip on March 29th

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
